About The Lastingham Wreck

One of the many historic wreck dives on New Zealand. She was built in 1876 and sank in September 1884 after steering into heavy storms enroute to London with a load of general cargo. She sank close to Cape Jackson. There was a loss of 18 lives and 3 survivors. Today she rests in shallow waters of 12 meters making it suitable for divers of all levels. Abundant marine and coral life now envelopes her remains. She still has most of her cargo aboard. Very scenic dive with lots to see and explore.
